Computer Club member's computer. It is running Windows XP Pro.

When it starts up, there is no function on the desktop, there is a message
regarding Active Desktop Recovery with a button to restore. No response from
pressing. The other options all state to right-click on the desktop. Mouse
pointer is mobile, but no reaction when clicking on anything. Keyboard
controls such as Windows + L to log off or Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the task
manager bring no response...

When started in safe mode, no message but just a blank screen. Again no
responses.

Any thoughts appreciated.
