Having a major problem with the laptop.
Got on this morning and it froze while I was on internet and all went down hill from there.

Called support (under a year old) they had me do bunch of stuff - since could not get it to boot up at all - just says viao and dies - blackish screen.

I have not added anything or down loaded anything so can't imagine what it could be. Barely use the thing.

So I got the few things I needed off the computer and tried to system recover - get an error - says 320

Then I tried recovery again and it just shut off at 86% - then I tried to test again - since I'm using f-10 (it's very limited what you can do) - this time it came back with an error - Linear seek test failed

Oh yeah and I had a few other clues about disk error also - said to do control alt delete - but that renders nothing.

So - I'm wondering about the cost to ship the dumb thing to Sony - I live in Dallas - like they don't have a dealer here???? but before when I thought I had a problem and didn't, it was like 6 weeks without the computer and a bloody fortune to ship the darn thing.

Had I known that I could have gone to Fry's or somewhere and got a handy dandy warranty - I wouldn't have never bought the dumb thing online.

What do you think is could be and would it just be cheaper to fix it here - even with buying the parts (I have a friend who'll be back from Iraq in two week and he can put the new stuff in for me)

Or does Sony have a good enough warranty I should just send it in? They do have a hdd recall right now - they're in trouble with our state AG - what do you think my options are - thanks a billion!!
