Worked for me! Yet another bug with Vista. Compatibility issues starting to
wear on me as well. Having to download patches, fixes, new drivers. Old
software does not work, people with XP cannot seem to open my attachments.

I had the same problem today. You are using Windows Mail with the new
Windows Vista. In your Windows Mail click on TOOLS then OPTIONS then
SPELLING you will see Settings: make sure the box is checked for Always
check spelling before sending. Hope this helps. It works for me now.

Thank you, you are right, selecting a different language and then returning
to English helped.

Hi
Go to Tools in main Windows Mail toolbar. Then Options - Spelling and tick
'Always check spelling before sending' and make sure the Language is English.

You're welcome! I've recently articled it as well.
Language drop-down box under the Spelling tab in Windows Mail is empty:
http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/192/1/
Error "This language is no longer available for spell checking" when using the Spell Checker in Windows Mail:

I tried opening a new email and then selected tools expecting to see options
in the drop down menu where your directions advised I could click on and see
English as a default selection. There is no option in the drop down menu
after selecting tools
Any other suggestions

When you open a new email it puts you in the compose screen.
You need to be in the main Windows Mail screen.

Ramesh, This works .. but do you have a fix for UK English? Not US English?
Thanks. Raja

Support for UK English spelling is currently not available for Windows Mail.
There is some hope for the future: Microsoft has announced they are
releasing a replacement email client (Windows Live Mail) later this month
which will have support for 39 languages.
