jpg display problem

I have several .jpg images that are not being displayed properly. In Windows
explorer and Windows Photo Gallery, they appear as avertical line. I can
open them with other programs, such as Microsoft Digital Imaging, and the
file is not corrupt or anything else.

When I first put the images on the computer, they appeared just fine in
Windows Explorer, but then you can see the progress as each image is
evaluated for display properties, and a lot (but not all) of the images (same
camera, same resolution) are converted to a near vertical line.

Any guesses out there what the anser might be?

I just want to let you know that you are not on your own here. I have exactly the same problem. I have a call in to Dell at the moment and I will see if they have a solution. If I get an answer then I will share it with you. Please let me know if you find a solution to this as I can only see about 10% of my photos unless I open them in Paint!!
