I have Vista 64 and IE8 and I get frequent crashes in sites like Amazon or
forum sites. Something freezes when that part starts to load. I have to
restart ie after. Is there a way to tell what is freezing it? Thanks

Start by running IE in no-add-ons mode. If everything works well, then one
of your add-ons is the culprit and should be uninstalled.

MS webpage explaining add-ons: http://tinyurl.com/2tro8f

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode -

Hi, this is Feran with the IE Outreach Team. I would first try managing
your add-ons as Malke suggested. If this does not work, then you may
want to try uninstalling then reinstalling IE8. 'Internet Explorer 8:
Help and support'
Uninstalling will revert you to your previous version, then reinstall
IE again from the Microsoft site. This has helped many people having
issues with IE8.

While all of that is true:

1. You should not forget to mention that if SP2 was installed *after* IE8,
the OP won't be able to do this. The joys of a browser that is entwined with
an operating system! Not.

2. It is doubtful that the OP will be back 6 days later.
