In trying to install the iTunes 7.1.1 update it reports that VBScript is
either not installed or it's disabled and says to enable it and re-register
it but doesn't say how. I have Windows Live One Care for the firewall but I
can't find anything in that or in the IE options settings that specifically
about VBScript. How do I enable VBScript and re-register it? Thanks!

Most likely the error is wrong. I don't know where in the process you are
getting this error, but did you run the installer elevated?

Don't remember if I did or not; I'll try that tonight; thanks!

I tried running it with elevated admin and I tried turning off the Windows Live
One Care firewall but I still get the message that VBScript either isn't
installed or is disabled but no information about how to solve it <sigh>. Any
other ideas?

Okay, finally found out what the problem was. Apparently the Vista install
doesn't register VBScript so I had to find vbscript.dll and regsvr32 it. No idea
why the iTunes 7.1 install worked fine without it but 7.1.1 wouldn't.

In my case I opened a command prompt and changed to the \windows\system32
directory. Then I entered 'regsvr32 vbscript.dll' (without the quotes).

What LarryW said. Pls note that you'll need to open an elevated Command Prompt to register the module correctly. To open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Open an elevated Command Prompt to register the module vbscript.dll. To open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type the following in the Command Prompt window:

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Press ENTER

Thank you so much for this posting!! I have been trying to download iTunes
for the past 2 weeks and no one seems to know what the "error" code was or
how to fix it. Now I can finally download music to my daughters iPod that
she received at Christmas!
