help vista and oblivion

ive just installed oblivion and it will run the start up screen but as soon as i click play it says it has stopped working. ive tried to make it compatable, tried oldblivion, and got updates and its driving me crazy pls is there anyone else having this problem i have plenty of ram but im not sure about my graphics card pls pls help ;.;
