Post subject: help with Aero....can't find it anywhere

Hi,

I don't know what happened to cause this, but I cannot enable Aero no matter what I do. I have Home Premium and reformatted my HD about 2 weeks ago. All was working, except I noticed an issue with the display settings changing from 1280x800 to 1024x768 by itself. I can't get that to stay as I set it. I think I can figure this part out though with the ATI controls. Aero did work when I reformatted and something had to have disabled it....I just don't remember what happened.

Also, when I went to re-enable Aero tonight, I found that I can't find it anywhere. It's not listed in either Appearance settings or themes. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried the right click, personalize option method and it's just not where it should be. When I click Window Color and Appearance, I get the Win 95 style Appearance Settings box. When I click on display settings it shows 32 bit enabled. When I click Themes, it shows no options for Aero or Vista-based themes.

Here's what I've got:
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
Gateway MT-6451
Vista Home Premium
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 1.6 GHz
1 Gig RAM, but listed in System Properties at 894 MB

Windows Experience 2.9 due to video card.

Please let me know if more info is needed.

Thanks,

Lauren

Hello [b]Lauren[\b]

when you open Control Panel>Personalization>Window Color and Appearance do you see the 8 color swatches then under that you should see "Enable transparency" with a check box. You should enable that with a checkmark.

Then under that you should see the words "Color Intensity" with a slider bar to the right of that.

Then under that you should see a drop down menu "radial button" with the words "Show Color Mixer" to the right of the button.

Then below that you should see the the phrase " Open classic appearance properties for more color options"...This is a link which when you hover your cursor over it and select it a new Pane should open up which is entitled "Appearance Settings"

In the lower left corner of this Pane you should see "Color Scheme" and below that you should see a series of verticle choices, the first of which is "Windows Aero".

You should be able to highlight that choice and then select the "Apply Button" and then Click on "OK" and that should enable your "Windows Aero" color scheme...

If that doesn't work for you then you have an issue which is above my skill level to help you with...

Hope this helps...
