Vista installation process starts normally, requesting the key and new
install or upgrade. When the program gets to the hard drive section, it
informs me it can't find the hard drives... I have searched for the
standard drivers through windows and even attempted to load drivers
with no response. The program doesn't allow me to attempt to format the
hard drive or partition. I am attempting to load a WD2500JD; I also
have a Seagate HD. These HD's are recognized in the BIOS, hence they
are working.
Any help is much obliged.

Check the CD that came with your motherboard and see if there is an
option to put your Sata drivers onto a blank floppy or a USB drive.
These would need to be loaded for Vista to find these drives.

On the same screen showing no active drive or partition, it should be an
option next to the bottom right corner, "drive options".
Click on it, and then click on "new".
Select the HD/Partition you want to install on.

Hi
I just went through this with my Gigabyte 965P-DQ6 mobo. I had the same
problem. What I finally ended up doing is loading Vista on a hard drive on
another machine and then using Ghost 2003 to mirror the os onto the WD5000YS
drive I have. Then I did a repair of the os from the Vista disk. Its a lot of
messing around but it works. Hope this helps, have fun Rick

Go to bios, turn off "RAID ON" to "RAID AUTODETECT" and save the
changes. It worked for me.
