Can't delete mail from deleted box

Fewer and fewer people are using Vista Mail. More and more are moving to
Window Live Mail. So you have a smaller group with problems that can help
you solve your problems. I would suggest moving to Windows Live Mail. That
might not solve your problem but would provide a new larger set of people to
help. (Windows 7, Windows Live Mail)

The difference is that Windows Live Mail is supported by Microsoft
and is getting periodic updates, while Windows Mail is not.

I have this problem too. I'm wondering if I might try and get my deleted
email box up to 5000 so that it will crash and empty itself. This happened
once when I let my 'sent' mail box get to 5000, it crashed and emptied.

Does anyone know if this might work?

I've done everything in each of the suggestions below and still get the
message 'Unknown Error has occurred'. In fact, now a couple in my Inbox have
the same message.

Try running my Windows Mail utility (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) to compact and repair the database. Then make sure you have the latest updates to Vista and also see point 3 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
