Can't delete mail from deleted box

I was able to do the 'right-click' step to get rid of them all (about 55),
then closed Windows Mail. The program popped up an offer to 'compact the
folders'. Did so.

Then before reopening it, did the advanced search on the
WindowsMail.MSMessageStore (per Frank saunders - Thanks, Frank). He said I
should have only found two instances, but 4 showed up in the search results -
one was an invalid shortcut. I deleted that, closed the search window, sent
myself 6 messages plus two new ones from others. Read and deleted all
without problem. The 3rd search file showed up as a file TYPE of
2007_18_122150. Don't have a clue what that is, but will leave well enough
alone (for now), since there is now joy in Mudville. Thanks for the tip.

can you send out of the box...the one undeletable e-mail i have in the
outbox, is stopping everything, have to use another e-mail address.

I was forced to delete one by one by doing File then Empty Deleted Items
Folder. It deletes only one a time. Next time it happens I will try
highlighting all entries before doing the Empty Deleted Items.

I am also having a nightmare with windows mail within VISTA I can not delete
all mails from my deleted box, I have to sift through them to delete what I
can but many are left with the message an unknown error has occured !! can
anyone tell me in simple terms how to fix this as its damned annoying.

Come on Microsoft, get it sorted, you dictate to us to use VISTA then it
don't work snoothly.

I have read many of the posts here most of which don't help and are hard to
follow........WINDOWS VISTA ??????? HELLLLLLLLLLLP john

To empty the ‘Deleted Items’ folder in Windows Mail.

Click on Tools, then Options, then Advanced, then Maintenance:

At this point take notes of the configuration so that you will again uncheck
the boxes as they were originally.

Then tick (check) the following :

- Empty messages from the ‘Deleted Items’ folder on exit
- Purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP
- Purge newsgroup messages in the background

Click on the Close button.

Then exit Windows Mail.

Now, open Windows Mail gain, the folder would have been emptied.

Now you could open Maintenance again, and uncheck the boxes so that they
would be as they were initially.

The mails that could not be deleted one by one appear to be o byte, or could
not be displayed. I tried the above and it worked.

I've tried for days to clear Windows Mail "Deleted Items" Folder and finally
the following steps got the problem folder cleared. Give it a try and good
luck.

1. Export ALL Windows Mail messages to a safe location, just in case.
2. Close "Windows Mail".
3. Go to C:\Users\xxxxxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail
4. Delete "Deleted Items" subfolder in "Local Folders"
5. Delete "WindowsMail.MSMessageStore" file.
6. Also Delete any subfolder in the 'Backup" folder.
7. Open "Windows Mail".

All folders in "Local Folders" should be empty.
A "Recovered Folder" is created.
Move messages you want to keep from the "Recovered Folders" back to "Local
Folders"
Delete "Recovered Folders" to clean up.

This method is not recommended because often you will get
a new "Recovered Folder" every time Windows Mail is started.

massage can not delete, I can not send other email out, it is block send

I find it unbelievable that MicroSoft couldn't fix this in the last 8 months.
I've dreaded getting a new PC since I liked XP, now this buggy Vista is a
pain. I've wasted an hour a day on this!
