Yahoo antivirus constantly turns itself off after I turn it on. This happened
with Vista Beta 2 and RC1? What gives?

Are you talking about the one with Norton Internet
Security or the simple one with Norton Spyware
protection? Either way, I'd get rid of anything
with that bloatware attached to it. I don't think
its compatible with Vista, either.

My anti-virus also turns itself off.

I'm using Yahoo Online Protection (comes with my AT&T / sbc account) which has programs made by Computer Associates NOT Norton Antivirus. This has nothing to do with Norton.

It just recently started doing this and I don't know why. I turn it on, and it turns itself right back off.

Please post something if you find out a fix. I'll do the same.

Thanks!

BTW: I'm running Windows XP home edition

For right now,.. try this.

So far it has worked for me.

Double click on your little Yahoo icon on the lower right hand side, or open your console in any other way you want to get to the anti-virus window. Then click on "edit settings" and the "Scan Settings" and uncheck the check marks on Real Time and Email scanners.

In other words, disable them and turn them OFF.

A dialogue box will pop up and tell you to close all programs and click okay and this will reboot your PC with the new settings.

After all the rebooting go again into the same settings and enable the Real Time and Email scanners. Do the reboot with the new settings.

For some reason, my anti-virus is now staying on all the time like it should. Before it would turn off all by itself. No apparent reason.

Hope it won't start doing it again. And I hope Yahoo is reading, or the people who make the program, which as I said before is, "Computer Associates" and get their techs to fix the bug!!!

Seems I'm not the only one out here in cyber-space with this problem.

Good luck!
