Make sure you are in the window where you would be looking for new mails,
not when you would be composing e-mail.
Tools > options > Spelling > under language, click the pointer and choose a
language OTHER THAN English. Click it and click APPLY. Go right back, click
the pointer and now choose ENGLISH, click Apply, click OK.

Carla-Go back to your original message in Windows Mail, Inbox.
Click on Tools
Click on Options
Click on Spelling
Select options you need/want
Click Always check spelling before sending
Click (lower) on "Apply"
This worked for me in English (From California, USA)

Make sure you've set up your email account in Windows Mail using the
instructions provided by Windstream:

http://windstream.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/windstream.cfg/php/enduser/std_.....php?p*&p_li=&p_topview=1

or a shorter URL: http://tinyurl.com/l6egh3

I have read several of these texts, but, still have no idea how to get the
spell check to work.
If I wanted to be a programmer I would have taken a masters in computer
science.
I didn't, I chose to spend $2000.00 on a computer and $600.00 on programs
that I expect to do their job without me reconfiguring it.
If you can break down to the most elementary level how to fix spell check,
it would be greatly appreciated. At least until Microsoft figures out we
don't buy there products to have to re-program them.
Thank You

In the main screen of Windows Mail, (not the compose screen), go to
Tools, Options, Spelling.
First select another language, click Apply. Then reselect English and click OK.
