I really appreciate that someone has written this in detail. Below it states
to go into the MAIN Windows screen to make changes. I thought I knew what I
was doing until I read that one sentence. It works for me now. What a relief.
Thanks sooo very much.

Go to windows mail and the "options" is at the bottom. ( on mine anyway)
Click on options and go to the spelling tab (7th tab along the top) I have
got a tick in " check before sending" and my spell check now works. Thanks to
Gary VanderMolen's post.
Good Luck.

I know why. On the old system, you just opted to check the spelling from the
compose screen, and Vista changed the way you do it.

You could always invoke a spelling check from the compose screen,
but that's not where you make permanent setting changes.
