Every once in a while randomly my computer will suddenly "go plaid." For
instance the computer will run fine for a full day then the next morning
when it boots up the screen might completely turn plaid once its all logged
in. Other times we'll be using the computer for different tasks and the
screen will turn into a few different colors in box form and look like a
plaid shirt. I thought it could be the video cards drivers but I just
reinstalled them with the newest version and it still does the same. Why is
it doing this?

Could be overheating, or not be pushed all the way into the slot.

What model of video card? Is it AGP, PCIe or built in?

It also could be other components in the computer overheating or loose.

Are all the fans running?

Yeah orginially i thought it was over heating which it was... the heatsink to
the processor was completely filled with dust and hair. It was running at 83
degrees celcius. I cleaned it out and its still doing that. I have an agp
x1600 512mb ram ati card in there. I got a replacement of the same thing and
it still is showing plaid. All the fans are running and i think everything is
secure i'll try securing them again. Any more ideas?
