Ok, I recently got Windows Vista Ultimate. I had Windows XP on my machine before that.
When I got Windows Vista, I formatted my hard drive and made it into 2 partitions, one for XP and one for Vista. First I installed XP on one partition, then I install Vista on the other.
Before getting Vista I downloaded the drivers for my Ethernet, Graphics etc. When Vista was fully installed, I wanted to connect to the internet. I had a few problems. 1. I didn't know where to find the connections to see if anything was connected yet. 2. The drivers for my Ethernet wouldn't work. After getting nowhere on that, I realized there was no sound because the Audio Drivers weren't installed.
(P.S. My motherboard is an Asus P5P800 With on board Ethernet and Audio.)
I went and got my Asus motherboard CD that came with the motherboard. I tried installing both the Audio and the Ethernet but when I tried, both said that the Operating System wasn't supported.
So in the end, I formatted again and just installed XP on the hard drive with just one partition.
My first question is, if I upgrade from XP to Vista, instead of doing a clean install, will my drivers that I've already installed on XP, work with Vista?
My Second question is if anybody has time, or if anybody knows of Vista drivers for:
Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit LAN Controller -- Ethernet
and
ADI 1985 6-Channel CODEC, Sound Blaster upgradeable -- Audio
Thanks for any help Smile
