Vista Beta 2 x86 Error Code 80070241

doing a clean install on my dell latitude D600, gets to 18% of copying files
and then Error Code 80070241 pops-up. Need help.

Try installing from Windows instead - also try copying the contents of the
DVD to a folder on the Desktop then running the setup from there.

If that fails, use Daemon Tools (www.daemon-tools.cc) to mount the image
virtually and install from there.

I recieved this message before. It wasnt the DVDs fault at all though. It
turned out that If you have a Motherboard with SATA + PATA drives, and you
have Native Mode selected in the BIOS (Not the compatibility mode) your
install will fail. How come, I couldnt tell you.
This is the case atleast for me with build 5308.

That ddn't work for me. I disable the SATA drives from the BIOS and still
doesn't install. It still appearing the Error Code 80070241 at 16%.

I have downloaded vista many times and every time i got the same error message no matter what method i used to download, then i got an idea, I went to the hated/loved site The Pirate Bay and found the same file. But rather starting as a new downloaded it, I saved it over top the M$ one. This allowed my client to hash check the contents of the iso and fix any missing or corrupted data without starting over. heres the linkhttp://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3495313
note: You must know how to use torrents and understand this distribution method may or may not be illegal where you live, I dont know but it worked first try and M$ should really try out the technology.

That torrent advice is excellent thanks. My download from microsoft was only 99.7% correct when i hashcode checked it. Just 10 mins and the iso was fixed! I'm just written this message in vista!!! Razz
