Everytime I log in and check my Windows Security center....my virus
protection is off! How do I get it on and why is it doing this?

Are you using a virus program other than Windows Defender?

Is your Firewall turned on?

Two points here:

1. Undoubtedly you mean an *anti*-virus program, not a "virus
program." Virus programs are very bad to have.

2. Windows Defender is *not* an anti-virus program; it's an
anti-spyware program.

Windows does not detect all antivirus and antispyware software.

If you are sure that you have anti-malware software installed, it is turned
on, and it is up to date, you can click I have an antivirus program that I'll
monitor myself or I have an antisypware program that I'll monitor myself to
stop receiving notifications from Security Center about your anti-malware
software.

If you do this, Windows will not monitor your anti-malware software status
or alert you if it is off.

Thanks for the reminder, Ken,

I haven't had my coffee yet this morning.

Windows Defender is not an anti-virus program.

Contact the vendor of your anti virus application, which you failed to
mention.

Off? Really off, or just the security center telling you it is off? Do
you know how to tell? Do you know what, if any, antivirus program (Virus
Protection) you have? Did you just install it, or has it been cruising
along peacefully until just now?

Could be malware, could be inconsistant data in the security gizmo's
store, could be incompatible software. Asking questions while giving
pertinent information is helpful when seeking help.
