Hi

I have a Toshiba Equium L10 Notebook and Have installed Vista Beta2 on it
and, whilst the installation went well, there is one problem with an
"unknown device" in device manager. The properties of the unknown device
show that it is a Microsoft ACPI Complaint Embedded Controller and after
searching around the various forums on the internet, the unknown device
appears to be the "Microsoft SMART Battery Subsystem" which my notebook and
many other users notebooks use.

When using Win XP with SP2, there was support for the Microsoft SMART
Battery Subsystem but in Vista, there is, at least for the time being, no
support.

The upshot of this lack of support means that I have no systray icon to warn
me of a low battery and this afternoon whilst using the notebook, it just
turned off because the battery was flat.

Can anyone tell me if there is a driver available for this hardware, or when
Microsoft will include support for the Microsoft SMART Battery Subsystem in
Windows Vista?

Regards

Dave
