Hello,

I own a "Terratec Phase 88 Firewire" audio device which offers 8
simultanious in and out channels.
I'd like to use this thing to create multichannel recordings using my
notebook.
But I have a problem.
Every now and then the device is lost somehow.
Especially the operating system is not able to use it any more (neither
through the DirectX ASIO interface, nor through ASIO4ALL or the special
Terratec ASIO driver).
But I can still use the control application of the device.

I'm using Vista Ultimate 32 Bit with all fixes installed.
When using Windows XP before, I didn't notice such a behaviour.

Which component may cause the device to get lost?

Thanks in advance!
Max

I also got a Terratec Phase 88 Firewire. I´ve used it for a long time with my stationary computer with windows XP. It has always worked fine.

Some days ago i bought a notebook with Vista. All software updated to the latest.
The terratec control-panel/mixer seems to be in order. I can switch between mic and line-signal on channel 7-8.The relay inside works and clicks. But when you try to play something there is just some noise, strange sounds. And when playing a sound in the left speaker, it sounds in the left. So, it seems like it works in some kind of way. But somewhere in the system the signal gets bad.

When i put the firewirecable into my xp-computer it works as usual again, but when i plug it into my notebook with vista there´s just some strange noice. Sounds like some kind of digital distorted signals. I think it´s very strange.
