Hello, I'm troubleshooting an issue between a Windows XP Pro SP2 PC and two Windows Vista PCs. I'd like to share files and a printer from the XP PC to the Vista PCs, however I'm unable to browse through Network. I'm unable to see anything through Net View or to ping the XP pc from the Vista PCs. So far I have done the following:
o Verified all firewalls from Windows and 3rd party are off on all pcs.
o Disabled Anti-Virus
o Tried public and private settings
o Matched user accounts on all PCs
All PCs are able to ping the router, the outside world, and function normally with other PCs running the same OS. The XP machine can be seen by other XP machines and the Vista PCs can be seen by other Vista PCs.
The XP PC intermittently appears in the Network list, but it can never be opened. Manually mapping drives and printers also fails.
All network connections are solid. Repeated ping tests yield 100% returns (as long as its not to each other).
The PCs are a mixture of wireless and wired. To eliminate the possibility of some Wireless bug I wired all of them. I also tried replacing the router in case it had some bug.
