I own over 3,600 compact discs which I began accumulating around 1980. Due to aging and apparently manufacturing quality defects, some CDs have already declined in sound quality.
Here is what I plan to do if I can find a tool, else may have to create one <groan>:
- Copy the music off of each CD and save it uncompressed (to ensure quality sound) onto a hard drive. This will require three internal 1 TB or six external hard drives, I suspect, for all 3600+ CDs.
- Provide access to and play the music in uncompressed mode from the hard drive, by performer, composer, title, lable, label ID (there are multiples for some CDs), etc. What makes this perhaps a little trickier is that a symphony and other kinds of music consist of multiple linked parts.
Another tricky part is that the CD copies will span multiple hard drives.
Lastly, I am NOT a pirate, simply want to preserve these CDs before they deteriate any more than they already have.
Thanks for any leads.
