The Harddrive issue is essentially..well, it's Vista being Vista. This is one of the issues i had heard about but never experienced myself. I would suggest upgrading to SP1 refresh for the time being then upgrading to sp1 final when it's released. Another thing to do is disable the indexing of your file. Unless you regularly search for files within windows or on your drive, you don't need this service and it'll save you power as your hdd will not be instructed to do this when idle as it is programmed to by default. To disable it just click on My Computer select properties of your C:\ drive or whatever drives you may have if you have partitions, and just uncheck the box at the bottom that says "Index this drive for faster searching". It's really unnecessary for the vast majority of pc users. I don't know anyone who ever uses it. If you need to search through files often, it's likely due to issues w/ proper organization which if that's the case you have bigger issues than you know

. This will help w/ the drive being active all the time, but not completely. as i said it is a known vista issue. So, yeah, follow those steps and you should be better off than you presently are. Good luck.
