Hey,

Looking to increase the Page file on my machine. I know how to do this in
XP, but Vista I can not figure out.

I right click on Computer, select Properties, and then click on Advanced,
but that link does not open up anything. nothing happens.

Any clue?

Gregg, I am able to access it by Opening Control Panel > (set to Classic
View) > System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > under Performance
(Visual effects, processor scheduling, memory usage, and "virtual memory" >
click Settings > Advanced (tab) > under Virtual memory > click "Change" >
uncheck "Automatically manage pageing file size for all drives"

Select the drive on which Vista is installed > select the "Custom size"
radio box > and type in the desired "Initial size and Maximum size" > click
"Set" > OK > OK > OK.

Please also note, I have UAP disabled, so you might want to do that to
prevent any hindrance. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run > type
in MSCONFIG > Tools (tab) > scroll down > select "Disable UAP" > click
"Launch" > close Command Prompt > restart system for changes to take effect.

Go to Start, Run, then type in *c:\windows\system32\sysdm.cpl* Click on the
Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Performance, click Advanced...

Going to sysdm.cpl takes me to the same Control Panel interface that I am
having trouble with. Clicking on Advanced does not bring up anything. I
mean, I click and click and click and nothing ever comes up.

Yes, I do have administrative privs on my computer so this should not be an
issue.

Alright, I think there is something deeper here. I tried to run MSCONFIG but
got an error:

C:\Windows\System32\msconfig.exe
The specified path does not exist
Check the path and then try again

In fact I get this error message when trying to run any .exe I put on my
machine. Already installed programs work, but independent apps do not.

Sounds like a bad install to me, try reinstalling Windows Vista.

Hmm... that sounds bad... try the public beta release, maybe that'll help?
