Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>general (more info?)

After repeated sporadic problems with IE8 and a general slowdown
of my computer I've come to the conclusion it is all due to the damn
constant updates from Microsoft.

My OS is Vista 64bit Ultimate, with a dual-core Intel processor,
500 GB hard drive, 4GB memory and more then adequate sound
and video card. I use Comcast as my ISP with constant throughput
speeds exceeding 8MB (sometimes as high as 20MB) and have had
no problems downloading videos or large files.

Generally my system runs great.. It is fast and reliable.. UNTIL I
receive notice there are updates from Microsoft and then WHAM!!!!
everything gets all screwed up. I can't access IE8 since it freezes up
and I get the notice 'Not Responding'.. It takes forever for it to open.

My Windows Mail is also slow when this happens and takes forever
to open and access my mailbox.

After a long time and the updates are installed, my system returns to
normal. I think much of the problem is due to the slowness of Microsoft's
downloads. One day my system was affected for over three hours before
the install was complete.

I've decided to turn off automatic updates and will pick a time when I'm
not using the computer once a week to do a manual download.

IT IS REALLY RIDICULOUS THAT MICROSOFT GETS AWAY
WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS. I've talked with friends of mine
who also have Vista and find they are experiencing much the same
problems as I've had.

I don't need a reply from PA BEAR...

How did you come to that conclusion? Did you shove your head up your ass to
get the answer?

Sounds like you have no clue how to work your computer. Better talk with
alias and he will switch you over to Ubuntu. You are perfect for Ubuntu.

Doesn't matter if it's slow. So are you.

Again, get with Alias and he will sell you Ubuntu. Then he will charge you
to install it. Then he will charge you to use it.

Vista isn't the problem - You are the problem.
