Hi,

Lost Planet - DirectX 10 Game Demo
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1639

I installed the trial on Vista64 Ultimate, but all I get is a message saying
"This application has failed to start because d3dx10_33.dll was not found.
Re-installing ....." It didn't obviously!

Has anyone managed to get this demo working?

Lost Planet demo worked fine in Vista32 and xp. It about 10 fps faster
in xp, tested with and without overclock, 8800 gts 320.
A bit better quality with dx10 Smile
Newest drivers on both.

Same story here, though it appears it time for an upgrade

I get Snow 72 and cave 44 under XP
I get Snow 64 and cave 40 under Vista32

And that's at 1024x768 with no Shadows, no Motion blur, Trinlear AF

At 1600x1200, I didn't even bother to let the demo finish, as it was pretty
much in the 20s the whole time. I don't have a DX10 card, so no testing
there

This is on a AMD 4800+
2GB of ram
ATI 1900XTX

I do hate that they left those stupid Xbox360 controller Buttons in there

OK, I found the solution to my own problem here:
http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?t=14063

I downloaded "d3dx10_33.dll" from here:
http://www.m3fe.com/files/d3dx10_33.zip , and unzipped it into the
Windows\ SysWOW64 folder (vista64), and hey it works! well, at least it
did for me.

If you get an error msg about file "xinput1_3.dll" missing instead, or as
well, its here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?xinput1_3

Now I'm thinking an amd64 x2 4600 is not enough.

Good luck with it!!

Graeme

The files you have reported missing are normally in the DX runtime updates.

I should note, that it appears Lost Planet wants the latest April Release. I
know I had the Feb 07 on, but when I tried lost planet it complained. So I
ran the DX update for April and all is well.

On a side note, this also happened under XP. Again, I had the Feb update on,
but needed the April 07 update, to run the game.

Another note, is I only have a DX9 card, so I'm not sure about that DX10
error

Downloading random system components from the Internet is a really, really
bad idea from a security perspective. The Microsoft DirectX Web Installer is
really the best place to go to make sure you are getting real bits instead
of rootkits and should include everything and the kitchen sink with respect
to the DirectX SDK optional components like D3DX9, D3DX10, XACT, XINPUT,
etc..

Thanks for the heads up on this game and the link for the dx10 update.
Got this working and after lowering the resolution to around 1370ish (cant
remember) this game is running at a steady 50fps with all the settings on
high even on the second part of the pirates mission with the battle between
the two battle suits.

Got 3800+ x2
8800gts
2gig ram
360 joypad
and this looks almost as good as the 360 version.

If this is an unfinished demo of what vist and Dx10 can do the future IS
looking good for windows gaming. Finally.

I am running Vista Home Premium 64bit with a Nvidia video card that
handles DirectX 10, I thought I had DirectX 10 installed but Lost
Planet complained about this missing D3DX10_33.DLL. I went to this
website and downloaded their latest DirectX 10, but why does it give
me DirectX 9?

I had to download this file elsewhere and move it manually to
Windows\SYSWOW64.

I does seem like a poor way to install a program.

I bought the Xbox360 controller a long time ago and this is the first
time I was able to use it. I like it but being used to aiming with a
mouse it is going to take me a LONG time to get used to it.

How did you manage to change the resolution? Mine is stuck in
1280x720x32bit and I can't change it. I don't think this correct
information as my display is set up as 1280x1024x32bit and I would
notice a change.

Anyways I get 56 with Snow and 49 with Cave running under Vista Home
Premium 64bit. This is on an AMD X2 6000+ 2GB PC2-8500 and an EVGA
8800 GTS video card. This is with DX10.

Also the sound output is stereo not Dolby DTS. My guess is this trial
still needs a few things fixed.

Did you run the DirectX Web Installer? It will install D3DX10_33.DLL on
Windows Vista x64.

I tried the DirectX Web Installer and I still had to manually download
and copy that file. I also had to install a beta driver for my video
card. Everything is fine now Smile but I still need to set up all the
controls the way I want.
