Have read alot of the post here but no one seems to have the answer to my
question. Seen alot try this and that but has any one actually imported a
outlook 2003 contact into the new windows mai(outlookexpress)? I have two
computers one has outlook 2003 on it and the other has vista with windows
mail on it, with out knowing some technical stuff it doesn't look like it can
be done. Thanks Mike C.

Mike,
I had Microsoft Outlook 2000. After many frustrating hours I finally was
able to transfer my contacts. I "Exported" the contacts from Outlook 2000
into a "CSV" file, then was able to "Import" them into Vista's Microsoft Mail.
Good luck

Thanks I had tried that before but outlook only gave me the option of
exporting archieved folders, and my contacts were not in their so I had to
copy my contacts folder into the archieve folder in order for it to work. Not
to impressed with this windows mail I tried to send a e-mail and clicked on
my buddies name all it had down dor him was his phone number. Thanks again

Mike

I did this running Office 2000 on an XP Operating System.
OLD COMPUTER
1. Open Microsoft Office
2. Click "File"
3. Click "Import and Export"
4. Select "Export to a File", click "next"
5. Select "Comma Separated Values(Windows), click "next"
6. Select "Contacts", click "next"
7. Type in where you want to save the file. Click "next"
8. Click "Finish"

On VISTA Computer
1. Open "Microsoft Mail"
2. Click "File"
3. Click "Import", select "Windows Contacts"
4. Select "CSV Comma Separated Values", click "Import"
5. Type in where file is located.
6. Click "Next"
7. Click "Finish"

I hope this works for you.

By trying your example I exported a 'csv, comma separated values(Windows) from Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Then I tried to import the file in Windows Contacts for Vista.

Then import works but not as it should, instead of Separating the Text Fields mapped to several Contacts field I only have one text field which I can map into one contact field. In other words I don't get it separated it becomes something like namelastnamenumbercomment.

Any help appreciated.

EDIT : I just found that you indeed could save as an ics fale just select the calendar and use save as in the menu. Optional to select dates etc and how much informartion you want exported then import it in windows calendar.

Oh and one more thing I forgot, anyone knows any way to export a calendar from Outlook 2007 so I can import it in Windows Calendar (Vista). Windows Calendar only supports icalendar files .ics and I haven't found a way to export that in Outlook

Post subject: Export Outlook 2002 Calendar into Windows Vista Calendar [Login to view extended thread Info.]

Hi Folks,

I was looking for an easy way to do this, and found a workable alternative ...

Export your Outlook Calendar to csv format and then log into Google Calendar and import the csv.
Open Outlook and go to File, Import and Export
Export to a file
select Comma Separated Values (DOS)
select Calendar folder
select name and location of file and then Next

now go to http://www.google.com/calendar/ and sign in or register
click on Settings
click on Import Calendar
select the file by browsing to where you just exported it
click Import

Now, Export the calendar by going to Settings again and clicking on Calendars
click on your Calendar name
in Private Address section, click the iCal button
this opens a window with a link to your ics file
click the link to download the file

Open Windows Calendar
go to File, Import and browse to your newly created ics file, make sure to update your existing calendar instead of creating a new one
click Import

The only downside to thsi is that if you have recurring events, it will not bring them all in, only those within a certain date range that you selected when you originally exported the file from Outlook!

Enjoy!WinkVery Happy

The Solution to Comma separation is because of Cvs file is not recognised in seperate coulmuns.
the solution is excel:
1. open the cvs file you created in excel.
2. open a new excel file.
3. from the data menu Get external data and select comma separation.
4. Save as the cvs file .
5. And it will work.

Good Luck
