Post subject: Hard drive letter assignment problem

I just used Acronis Disk Director Suite to change my C drive to M (turned out to be K though) to install a program. I know, Ima retard. I can log in and stuff
but I get a blue screen (not of death) with a cursor. I have to start the task manager to do anything (like open firefox.) I need help to fix this problem. I cannot change the drive letter back or restore my system. Can anybody help?

never ever Change your C drive's letter. The only way you can safely do this is by creating a pre-existing pertition and selecting that partition during install. The reason you're having issues is basically, nothing's pointing to the letter it's supposed to. You'd have to go through all your files and re-direct them to drive letter which i'm not even sure if it's possible or doable as some are locked or difficult to edit. You're gonna have to re-install. If you wanted to change drive letters the safe way to do it would be from within' windows by right clicking on your computer and chosing manage then clicking on Disk management in the tree view under storage. Even then, you can only change drive letters for non system partitions or drives.. IE: separate partition, separate drive, cd/dvd drives, removable drives...

Let this be a lesson to you. Smile don't mess with what you do not comprehend cuz this kinda stuff happens. I did this many many MANY times and i regreted it each time but i learned from it. Hope you will too Smile. Good luck.
