Ghost 2003 failure on Windows Vista (Dell 1505)

I sucessfully installed Ghost 2003 on a Dell 1505 running Vista in order to restore Ghost backup files from a previous computer. The .gho files had been copied to desktop, and the restore destination is a USB external hard drive.

The reboot went into the DOS shell, gave me the choice between completing the Ghost operation or returning to Windows. Both options are hanging, I cannot get back to the original Vista bootup. I am assuming the Ghost drive letter swap is the culprit. I have the ghreboot.exe file from another computer, but do not know how to resolve. Please advise.

Ghost 2003 is a DOS program and NEVER should be Installed on any HD, let alone Vista. In spite of the GUI, Ghost will only run in DOS.
I've been running it from a boot floppy for ten years now, through many upgrades and versions, but Ghost 2003, build 793 is still my favorite.

You also can't move Ghost Image files around like pictures. Restore will want to find them where Ghost put them, not somewhere else.

As for booting up with a Ghost 2003 boot floppy or CD and doing Ghost backups and restores, in XP or Vista.... no problem, I do it all the time.
