I was changing the security for a permitted user and somehow Vista removed
the full control from my user ID for the selected folder. I'm the
administrator and own the folder. I tried getting to the folder and reset the
permission problem several different ways including setting up a new
administrative user. Nothing was successful. The full control box is grayed
out, although checked, and cannot be changed.

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

I tried the suggested fix. No matter where I do it from, Windows or DOS, I
receive an "access denied" message fro the particular folder. What about
turning off UAC so I may be able to delete the folder and restore it?

If you tried it from an elevated command prompt then turning off UAC won't
help. That does not do anything different from elevating.

What is the name of the folder and can you see the ACL on it? If you run
icacls against the folder from an elevated command prompt, what do you see?
