I have a backup drive connected to my computer. I access documents, correct
them and save them. When I loaded Vista, I went to access my documents,
corrected it and then when I tried to save it--it has completely disappeared
from my backup drive and my C drive......no where to be found....what did I
do wrong?

Could you please clarify exactly what you are talking about, preferably in a
numbered step by step of what you did?

piook is a long standing psuedo-name that resulted from a typo on the old
computer game "Where in the USA IS Carmen Sandiego", and it stuck.
