FYI:

To disable IPv6 in Vista:

Use registry to access:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tcpip6\Parameters\

Create key named:
DisabledComponents

Set key value to:
ff (in hex)

No idea if that will work or not, but editing the registry when there is
another method using the interface or the command line is often a bad idea.

Simply open Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
Right click the connection you wish to remove IPv6 from. Select Properties
Remove tick from "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click OK.
Repeat for other connections if needed.

Robert:

Your suggestion does not disable IPv6 on tunnel interfaces

I have tested both procedures (regedit and bindings) and there seems to be no
difference in effect. The key is a DWORD Value. However, disabling IPv6
binding is the easiest.

Run ipconfig /all command for both and see if there is a difference.

Also run netstat -an command.

Thank you. I was going by the logs only (IPv6 errors were flooding the event
logs). Those events seem to stop by simply disabling the binding. It
appears that removing the bindings will stop the actions hitting the log, but
adding the registry dword will eliminate the visible traces that IPv6 even
exists... I ended up going with the registry key too.
