When I try to use DVD maker to burn any video files it stops working. I
import the files, click next and it reports that it has stopped working. I
can import phots fine just not videos or MovieMaker projects. Seems it is an
Audio problem?

That's a crash in the Intel Audio Codec, which I believe was sold by them to
Ligos. What does Ligos say about this crash?

I haven't checked this out further, but you should be able to uninstall that
codec... does temporarily renaming iac25_32.ax to iac25_32.ax.bak fix you
up?

This is all rather basic attempts to help you - I haven't done much research
on the issue yet, but the crash information you've provided does clearly
identify that file/codec.

Getting rid of iac25_32.ax solved the problem. Once I figured out how to
"take ownership" of the files to br able to delete them. I had installed the
Intel codec to be able to see some old Intel webcam .avi files.

Bad move

Thanks

Where did you install it from / how did you install it? I don't know if
Ligos/Intel will be fixing this, but it'd be good to know where people are
getting this from.

Not knowing much about codec I just downloaded the old codec from
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Intel_Codec_Installer.htm

It was free (less than what it was worth in the end). It did allow me to
play the .avi files and render from Movie Maker but they screwed up DVD
Maker.

Ligos does have a new Codec pak that is supposed to be Vista compatible but
I don't feel like paying $14.95 just to find out and run a few old web cam
videos.

I had almost the same issue. Trying to make a DVD with AVI video files, it started the encoding process and at the 0.5% it crashed with a critical error. Sometimes it referenced to the kernell32.dll file, others to MCACM32.dll. After checking some forums, a fix was to install the k-lite codec pack, and use the codec tweak tool that comes with it and disable all entries for any Indeo codec listed there, before doing that I uninstalled the Xvid codec pack previoulsy installed. After that DVD maker acted worst, it chrashed as soon as I added any video file. So I uninstalled the k-lite pack, and the issue remained, but now making reference to divx codec files. Then I uninstalled the Divx codec pack (don't remember if I installed it in the past Razz). Downloaded the Divx player with its codecs, rebooted, and tried again, it worked.

So very likely DVD maker is pretty picky about the codecs installed, so take a look and reinstall/uninstall the codecs that you have and check one by one until you have the correct codecs for DVD maker to work.

Hope this helps

I was getting dumped out of winDVD maker with the iac25_32.ax error and spent over an hour trying to figure it out yesterday. This very simple fix solved everything in one fell swoop. I have a lot of codecs on the system and didn't want to mess around with all the system properties like everyone way saying. I "took control" of the system32 directory first. This utility may help. Vista makes it extremely difficult to change the permissions. This may not have been necessary to fix the iac25_32.ax problem, or any other codec issue. good luck.

Here's what you do courtesy of the moderator at http://forums.techguy.org/multimedia/682979-windows-vista-dvd-menu-maker.html

Try disabling the codec first and see what happens. Go to Start > Run, and type:

regsvr32 -u iac25_32.ax

(You'll have to do this as an Administrator.)

You should see a message that it succeeded. Try the program. If it still doesn't work, go back and type:

regsvr32 iac25_32.ax

Try it again.
................
Have you installed any codecs? If you have, try uninstalling them.
