I have a brand new HP Pavillion dv9035nr Media Center notebook that I have
installed the final release version of Vista Ultimate on. Windows update
downloaded and installed the 11/19/06 version of the Conexant HD audio driver
but my audio still doesn't work. HP won't help me as they continue to insist
the final release version of Vista is not available.
ANY help appreciated! |

I have a dv6045nr and the latest Conexant update works just fine on my
computer running the 64 bit version of Vista Ultimate. Have you tried
uninstalling through CP and then rebooting?
In defense of HP, you can expect them to release drivers for the final
version until they actually start shipping units with Vista preinstalled.
Even then, the units will ship with the *32 bit* version installed, so it
may be some time before you see any Vista 64 bit drivers.

Your brilliant!
I assumed that since there was a Conexant driver installed on my system, and
that since Windows update was offering to update it, that I actually NEEDED
it! Not so. I uninstalled the driver and rebooted and voila! Sound returns!
Now go drink a Guiness. You earned it!

Hey
Will the Conexant HD Audio driver included with Vista Ultimate x64 work with Windows XP Professional X64 edition? I could give it a try on my HP Pavilion dv6000z CTO. If so, please email it to me. Thanks.

Almost surely not, since the XP drivers require a KB patch that won't
install on a Vista system. You need to check with HP for updated drivers.

I have an HP dv9005 that came with Windows XP with a free upgrade to Vists Home Premium, which I just installed. Shortly after the installation, my audio stopped working.
The touch sensitive "mute" button would turn orange (indicating the sound was "muted') near the beginning of the boot sequence and could not returned to "sound on" condition. It continued to "chirp" when touched and the Speaker icon on the task bar appeared to work normally in response to pressing the mute button, but there was no audio!
After trying all the options in Vista without success, I went to Device Manager and uninstalled the Conexant driver. I then rebooted the machine, which searched for the missing driver and downloaded and installed it automatically. Voila, SOUND!!! (Do not download the driver yourself! The machine won't find it, and you'll get an error message saying there is no sound device installed.)
Put differently, let Windows and Vista fix the problem by finding, downloading, and installing the driver themselves. (Be sure that you've activated "Automatically update drivers/software in Vista first!) |

I have tried everything under the sun to get this sound working.
My problem is, i remove the conexant driver, then reboot. Upon reboot, the driver downloads and begins its installation. During the installation, an error pops up saying "Driver Installation Module is not working."
Anyone ran into this, have any suggestions, etc?
Goin crazy with no sound here!! |
