I think some misunderstand (one of you got it the bluetooth device
is installed FINE its the "services" that are creating the bluetooth
peripheral device driver request problem.
UNCHECKING THE DEVICES IS A NON SOLUTION AS YOU DEFEAT THE POINT is to
"use" those services.
if I want to use DUN and I UNCHECK dun YES the driver request will go
away but so will any ability to USE DUN.
See what I mean?
I install fine. I PAIR fine. they see each other but as soon as I try
to use SERVICES I get this stinking issue.
anyone have any idea how to fix it?

Is the Bluetooth built in or a dongle?
Please list relevent information on make/model. If it's built in, list make
and model of the computer. If it's a dongle list make and model of the
dongle.
If you know it uses Broadcom's Bluetooth chip and you're using earlier
version of WIDCOMM try the upgrade at...
http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php
The download is an installer and only updates to the latest WIDCOMM software
and driver available, if it can find Bluetooth driver already installed.
This basically means you need to have the earlier version of WIDCOMM
software/driver package installed or at the very least the driver.
The installer doesn't work even if you have a dongle or built in Broadcom
Bluetooth chip without the driver present. |

its a dongle. one of the $4 ebay hong kong dongles.
I got 2 one works the other does not
well correction they BOTH work just fine. windows detects. windows
installs.
They both can SEE other bluetooth devices. They can both PAIR with
other bluetooth devices.
its when it comes time to install SERVICES that I run into problems. ie
once I link my blackberry it off course wants to install Dial Up
Networking for Bluetooth (which is exactly what I want)
ITS HERE at this step that it asks for drivers. but only for the one
dongle.
problem is these are nano dongles. no names no markings I have no idea
which is which so I have no way to REORDER the "working" dongle and stay
away from auctions for the non working dongles.

Can you find the VID (vendor ID) and PID (product ID)?
Do you know where to locate those? It should be listed under Details tab
for the device in Device Manager.
On the Details tab, underneath Property change Device description to
Hardware Ids by clicking on it and scrolling down.
It may look like this...
USB\VID_047D&PID_105E&REV_0000 |

GRRRRR I just plugged it into the desktop PC for the first time and it
works without asking for drivers. Tested connection works flawlessly. I
think this is the good dongle.
SO either this is the "good" dongle and i need to dig up the other
dongle OR there is something different about this computer even though
both system were installed from exactly the same XP Disk.
I will dig up the other dongle and let you know.
Just for the heck of it here is this dongles information
Off course can't copy and paste that
BTH\MS_RFCOMM\6&1E6C5899&0&0
there is a PAN entry as well:
BTH\MS_BTHPAN\6&1E6C5899&0&2
Those are both under Network Adaptors
There is a Bluetooh Section titled
Bluetooth Radios
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Silicon Wave Bluetooth Wireless Adapter
AHH I think this is what you wanted
USB\VID_0C10&PID_0000\5&34A681E0&0&3
I will MARK this dongle now since I know it works on at least one
machine and then try it on all the machines to see if its the dongle or
the machines.
I will also find that other dongle and report back.

Information I found on Google seems to indicate Silicon Wave Bluetooth
Wireless Adapter uses Broadcom bluetooth chip.
