i tried to search for this, because i know it's a fairly common problem, but got no hits with either of the terms in my subject line.
my sister got this on her computer. she's running winXP; uses AVG.
she ran an AVG scan and it didn't even find this as a problem. also ran spybot and it didn't either.
we found a couple of sites that described how to manually uninstall this virus. followed all the steps, and it's still in there.
[and by "all the steps," i mean all of them. every site we found told people to delete shlwapi.dll and wininet.dll. yeah, you can't from the system32 folder unless you're an admin...but you can rename them! it took us some time to get into dos so we could fix that little problem just so the computer would re-boot. thought some of you smarter people might find that amusing.]
anyway, has anyone run across this recently and do you know how to remove it, or can you direct me to a site that actually has a solution that works??
