WindowsXP Pro, AVG Free Edition (latest), Outlook2003

Hi

Anyone know how to stop AVG (the free version) from attaching a little
text file to everything
it has checked?

It is very irritating because it become hard to find emails with
GENUINE attachements in my
Outlook2003.

With thanks

P.S. Is there any REAL merit in buying the "Professional" version of
the AVG software?

In many ways I would almost PREFER to pay at least SOMETHING for a
service!

[ Though I wouldnt want to spend more than GBP 10 or 20, absolute max
30 (but it would have
to be damned good!)... ]

I read good reviews previously about Kasperskyy and I already have
Kaspersky
Anti-Virus Pro 5.0 on my old PC. It was better and less fussy than
norton but it
seemed to make my run rather slowly...

But I cant find it in the options!

The file in question appears as an attachment (in Outlook2003) called
"_AVG certification_.txt" and it says stuff like this:

"No virus found in this incoming message.
Checked by AVG Free Edition.
Version: 7.1.385 / Virus Database: 268.5.1/328 - Release Date:
01/05/2006"

WHERE do I switch it off?
I have looked everywhere I can find!

Turn it off in the Options.

Assuming your are talking about those "certified virus-free"
advertisements that ISTM are On by default.

Duh_Oz gave you a resource with instructions. I expected you would be
able to find it. Sorry.

Those messages are simply advertising; there is no way any a-v company
can guarantee an email is 'virus-free'.

That said, it is wasted resources to scan incoming and outgoing mail in
the first place. If you actually should receive a virus-laden
attachment, the background real-time scanning will prevent you from
opening it.

Besides, you don't wantonly open or execute received files without first
scanning them, do you? Practicing safe hex, right?

please tell me your reason(s) why you always do fullquoting and
crossposting without FUP2? (Same to some others)

How about you post your reason for deleting a news group from the original
poster's destinations ?
btw, not clever to not put a "FUP2" advice in your reply, or deny those
readers, who only subscribe to one of the news groups.
IMHO

because excessive crossposting normally is no good idea. Ok,
crossposting to only 2 ngs in this case is not so bad. But more than
often postings (additionally fullquoted) are going unnecessarely to as
much more ngs.

But my first argument was the fullquoting behavior less the fup.

in AVG 8.5 Free Edition

1. Open AVG User Interface

2. Select the menu item Tools->Advanced Settings

3. Cick on the E-mail Scanner block in the main window

4. Uncheck Certify e-mail in both incoming and outgoing mail
