f-prot scan from USB drive

I have put F-PROT 3.16a for DOS on a removable flash drive and when
attempting to scan the local hard drive of a desktop PC it gives me an
error.
Error: Drive not ready!
It also says in the log the Hard Disk boot sectors were not scanned.
After escaping out of error message it starts scanning the flash disk.

Why will it not scan the c: drive?

The settings are:
Search: Local Hard Disks
Action: Disinfect/Query
Files: Standard File Extensions
Switches: /ARCHIVE /PACKED /BEEP

Okay, after messing with it some more I see why it says Drive not
ready. The drive it refers to is a Zip drive and there is nothing in
it. However, it still does not scan the C: drive past the root
directory even though I have subdirectories chosen in the folder.

what's the operating system? f-prot for dos isn't recommended for newer
versions of windows for a variety of reasons - one of which being that
the command shell no longer does a good job of providing backwards
compatible filesystem I/O functionality...

Windows 2000 Pro. I do see on the website now what you say. Oh well,
I thought it would be a good way to carry an AV around with me when I
am troubleshooting co-worker's systems. Is there another non-install
decent AV product I can do that with?
