I've got two computers here that I'm trying to clean up. When I load the
latest Adaware SE on them, I'm prompted that the definitions are 588 days
old. But the definitions are up to date. And I can't get through a
complete scan. I thought the problem was virus-related, but AVG doesn't
turn up any.
please advise.

date on both computers are correct. i've been doing this kind of thing for
6 years, and this is one of the strangest things i've seen.

Odd then. I figured I might as well get the obvious out of the way
first. But I have no answers at all.
Did you try their Forum??

thought,came up with this jewel:

I just installed the latest version and it also said 588 days old. I
ran the updater and then performed a full scan-no problems. Perhaps you
should run David's Multi-AV tool. You will find instructions and a link
to it on my pages (see my sig below).

Hi,
Try downloading the definitions file from their website and update the software manually. |

Well, it seems to be related to the fact that I installed the program from a
USB flash drive. Since both computers could not access the internet, I
transferred Adaware onto a flash drive from another computer. When I
installed on the target computer I got the "588" days thing. However, once
I got the internet connection working on one of the computers and downloaded
Adaware directly, the problem did not come back.
Maybe it has something to do with the file system on the flash drive ???
