hello. i'm sorry if this sounds dumb, but, i have to ask.

i've been using avg for several years and have good results, so i tried ver 8.0
when it was available and i do like it. but i have an isue i can not get straightened about.

now when the browser loads (fire-fox) it comes up with www.ca.yahoo.com/
as the search engine where as before it was just yahoo.com ( our amaerican
friends). the problem is that most of the book marks do not work from canada 'cause they are not registered in this country.

to work around this i now start in google then go to www.yahoo.com and every thing works.

in browser options the start page was www.yahoo.com it went to ca.yahoo.com. if i put yahoo.com in the search address it goes to ca.yahoo.com.

is there any way to get things back to"how they were ?"

going back to 7.5 fixes it but i do want to stay current.

thanks for the time on this.

woody

p/s putting 8.0 on the other machine here causes the same thing

Being from the Great White North myself, I gave it a try and whether I put 'yahoo.com' into the address bar, or search area, it still comes up yahoo.ca. Google will locate yahoo.com, but when I click on the link, it opens .ca.

Tested it with google.com as well. It switches to google.ca.

Perhaps this has been going on for awhile and you never noticed it. I tested this on both a machine I had installed AVG 8 on and one that I had not installed it on.
