Hi there. About 2 years ago a few very helpful people helped me sort out my computer (under a different username which I can't remember, sorry mods!) and I'm hoping I will have similar joy this time round.
The previous time invovled various hijack this reports, panda scans, vundo fixes and other bits and perhaps I should go down that route again soon, but in the meantime my question is quite simple.
I have a fairly low spec PC, so available memory is quite important. Currently my "security" applications are:
AVG Free (Virus scan only)
Windows Firewall
Ad-Aware SE Personal
SpyBot Search & Destroy
SpyBlaster
It sems that both SpyBot S&D and SpyBlaster have had some rather major updates recently and are asking me to download a new programme file (rather than just a new "protection" file). Also looks as though AdAware have stopped supporting SE Personal. So this has kicked me into asking something I've been meaning to for a while now ... do I have too many "protection" apps? Are the above ones the best free ones out there? Would you recommend, for example, the complete AVG suite (I think there's a free version of that isn't there, ie firewall, spyware etc)???
Any thoughts and help gratefully received!!
Cheers
