Unable to install AVG free 8.0

Whenever I try to install the latest version of avg free 8.0 169 it says it cannot install because I am using an unsupported version of windows.

Windows version. - Win Xp pro SP3
AVG version and virus db version (found in the lower left hand corner of the AVG User Interface) - avg free 8.0 169 (25/08/0 Cool

Other antivirus software installed / previously uninstalled (if any) - None
Other protection software installed - None
The exact error message you are getting (if any)

"You are trying to install AVGfree on a windows operating system that unfortunately does not support all functions required for correct operation of this product. The installation cannot continue."

did you ever figure it out? I have the same problem.

Check the date and time on your computer. It may look accurate, but may be 2011 or something. That will generate that particular message.
There are also certain viruses/trojans/malware that prevent installation.
Download SuperAntiSpy or Malwarebytes or Spybot and do a full scan, then remove everything found by the program, restart, and try again.
