Anyone know why McAfee would not remove two trojan horse "exe"
files? Is there an easy way for me to do this by myself?.

Insufficient information.

There are many reasons why. The EXE files may be loaded as NT Services. Their respective
File Handles may be held open by the OS. The malware may have changed access rights, etc.

You need to privide more information such as the fully qualified name and path to the
infected files and what McAfee is calling the infected files.

Even without "more information" I can tell you this.

McAfee, like Norton, has been labeled as Bloatware by myself and many other working techs. We've found that it just doesn't do the job for which you are paying good money.

I regularly remove it (and/or Norton) from my customer's PC's and after cleaning up after it, I install AVG 7.5 FREE.
It will get a great majority of the currently circulating Trojans and also does an update and full scan daily, if you set up the scheduler properly.
Did I mention it's absolutely FREE?

AVG 7.5 FREE:
World famous AVG FREE will keep your computer free of viruses,
trojans, dialers, etc.
By default, it updates and scans for viruses on a daily basis.
AVG 7.5 FREE, can be downloaded from:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5

Scroll down the page to the orange area and then click on:
avg75free_472a1024.exe (or the currently posted version)
Save to your desktop and run the install from there.
If you have an older version of AVG free already installed,
use the 'Repair Install' option when installing v. 7.5.
Immediately get updates. More than one may be required.

For even greater Trojan protection and to get those really hard to remove Trojans, I suggest the FREE 30 day trial of "Trojan Hunter".
After using the free trial to clean up some really DIRTY PC's for my customers, I got up off the plastic and bought a two year subscription to it.
I now carry the FREE trial of trojan hunter with me on every service call and run it on every PC I work on. On almost every PC, it finds several trojans.

Trojan BLOCKERS/REMOVERS:

Trojan Hunter, is a first class Trojan Horse Virus removal program.
The downloaded version is a 30 day, Fully Functional, free trial.
Use the Free Trial to clean up a Dirty system or buy the retail license to have a year of full service plus updates. Download "Trojan Hunter" here:
http://www.misec.net/trojanhunter/

I hope this is of some help to you.

Cheers Mate!
