| You were correct. AVG is no longer owned by Grisoft. Oddly enough, all the problems started about the time the negotiations would have started. And these companies wonder why we stick with free versions of their software.

| Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. I've seen this kind of thing happen before, and it seems I'm getting an instinct for it - unfortunately, as it would be much better if it didn't happen.

I'm so sorry to hear about peoples AVG problems, because I have so few.
I even bought a two year lic. because I really like the program.
With the new Anti-spyware and Anti-Trojan apps, it lets me install fewer security programs on my PC.
It's a very powerful program though and does take up some ram and CPU cycles when running. But it's still not as bad as Norton and some others.
If your PC is already overloaded and short on RAM, installing a power house like AVG 8.5 will definitely cause some slow-down.
I keep my own PC as clean and un-burdened as possible so AVG can even be doing a full scan, and I'm not even aware of it.
On the few and seldom occasions that I've had AVG fail on me, I just uninstall it and reinstall it and all is well again.
Happy Computing Everyone!
