I have a huge issue here. I bought Norton Internet Security 2009 for 3 of my computers, I have it installed on all but this one that I am using to write this message. Yes, it did install on the other two without issues.
Unfortunately, when I went to install NIS2009 on this computer, it stated that I had to download and run the Norton Removal Tool, so I did.
Then all the bad stuff happened, the computer blinked and flashed then all of a sudden my wife's photography program, "Adobe Photo shop Elements 6", over took all my icons throughout the computer. So, then when I tried to open any program, whether on the desktop or through the "All Programs" start list, Photo shop then over powered and started up instead.
So, I then removed Photo shop and Adobe from my computer, then leaving all the icons as a little square with three colored spots on them.
I not only have Internet Explorer 7 installed and used it, but also I used Netscape 9, and Fire Fox; I can no longer get Internet Explorer to come on, in fact it just blinks once for about 1/2 second.
Now when I try to open any program, file, picture, ANY THING, it does not and gives me the message:
"File not Found
Netscape can't find the file at /C:/Documents and Settings/ All Users/ Desktop/ Mozilla Firefox.lnk.
- check the file name for capitalization or typing errors
- check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
Try again"
I have tried to access the Norton Int. Sec. 2009 disc during bootup and to try to reinstall the NIS2009, but the computer will not recognize the disc in the CD drive. I have checked to see if the CD can be used as a boot disc and yes it can and is.
I have tried to run the boot disc on the floppy and I cannot open the files - it responds like trying to open any other file. I have even tried to use my flashdrive, but NOT!!!
I have contacted Norton tech people, and they have asked me to go on the Norton chat, but I cannot use Internet Explorer, and have given me loads of instructions, but once again, I CANNOT OPEN ANY KIND OF ICON, FILE, ETC.
I do get onto Netscape and Firefox by getting that stupid message and then being able to select either of the Netscape or Firefox program from a list, but if I try Explorer it just blinks and that is it, nothing.
What a mess.
Can anyone help me??
Is there any kind of self extracting virus scanning program or fixing program that I can use from Netscape or Firefox??
Or is there some other way to fix this, oh yes, I have even tried to format my C drive but it gives me that same stupid "File not Found" message.
THis is sending me crazy, help.
