| Hello guys...Thought I had got the best antivirus in the world, updated it with latest definitions everyday. But to my sorrow it didn't detect the newfolder.exe......It came fromthe USB and copied itself to every folder I opened....with the name of that folder.....disabled regedit, cmd and taskmanager....I downloaded Trend Micro's sysclean and it cleaned it with svch[something host].exe fromt he system32 and Windows folder.....but the question is that why doesn't norton detect it.....???

| Hi SmartBoy,
Norton is no where near the best. The best anti-virus in the world would be either NOD32 or Kaspersky.
My advice to you is get rid of Norton and get a decent piece of anti-virus software. As I said before NOD32 or Kaspersky are the market leaders, but if you don't want to pay for anti-virus software give Avast a try (it's free).

Norton has 'name recognition' and they are virtually the only company that advertises nationally. They also pay many manufacturers to put their product on new PC's. That should qualify as criminal behavior.
The Best? Far from it. It aptly qualifies as "Bloatware" for all the system resources that it soaks up. And yes, it DOES NOT find and remove all the viruses currently going around.
I and many other computer tech's regularly remove Norton from our customer's PC's and replace it with a FREE AV program. Some like Avast, but I much prefer AVG 7.5 FREE. It gets most all viruses, many Trojans and once in a while a piece of Spyware that may be acting like a virus.
To remove Norton, go into your ADD/Remove applet in Control Panel, find the Norton product(s) and click the "Remove" button on the right side of that product's line.
Then get the Norton Removal tool....see my signature line....and use it to finish the job.
Good Luck and Happy Computing,
Shadow |
