I am new to the world of Apple and am looking for advice regarding anti-virus protection.
Received wisdom is that the Mac doesn't need anything extra. But what if, as I am, you are also running XP on a VM using Parallels in Coherence mode? I don't intend to access the internet through XP very often but some programs require it.
Could my whole HD be compromised through a virus obtained vis the XP component? If I ought to use an antivirus programme should it run on the XP machine only?
These questions probably only go to display my ignorance of the issues but I have never used a VM program before.
On my old Windows system I used Avast which was fine.
