I forgot to add one more thing.
When i finially get my computer started, it says "Window XP has found a
problem in your computer, we suggest you fix it."
Than there would be this on the bottem of the page, "Press F1 to
countinue, press F2 to go to Setup."
I pressed F2 before, but it only shows the screen stuff, the memory of
the PC, the fan speed, etc.
I changed some of those things before, but it keeps happening.. |

That sounds like it happens during POST (Power On Self Test) and prior to running the OS.
This is also indicative of a hardware problem. This reinforces the idea that this is NOT
due to malware.

If you have your xp cd put into the recovery console and run a chkdsk /r. If
it finishes and finds errors it fixed I would recommend running a hd test to
make sure the drive is not failing.
After it finishes you may have to run a repair install.but I would try to
put it up after the chkdsk

Could be a ton of different things.
Take it to Best Buy and throw yourself on their mercy. Might cost you
$100-$200 to get it fixed.

It could be the AC power source. Try another plug. If you are running
through UPS try bypassing it. When the battery in UPS starts to go it can
get quite temperamental.

What's a UPS?
Sorry..sort of new to this computer stuff....
My compt still shuts down by itself.....
The only way for me to restart my computer if it shuts down by itself,
is to unplug the power outlet and replug it back in.
Could it be the extension cord?
Or could it be the router? (linksys) |

It could be the operator, lol. UPS.....a big box that you plug
everything into so that if a surge or drop in power won't blow the heck
out of your computer. I have 2 of them. They are about $60 Cdn. and I
believe UPS stands for Universal Power Supply.....but I always screw
that one up.
APC makes a good one.....so does CyberPower. I have had two of them
*die for my computer*, grin. Because of lightning strikes......one
being 3 doors away from me.
I doubt it would be your router. Linksys is a good one. So is DLink.
Take it into a repair shop or Best Buy or whatever......let them figure
it out.

| I was having the same issue about a week ago on a Sony Vaio PC. It would shut itself down by itself after you would start using it. Then I would have to just turn it back on. Well after checking the RAM and the power supply, I decided to blow the dust out, (and believe me it was dusty) after spending about 25 minutes cleaning out, I plugged it all back up, and ran it straight for nearly 3 hours, and it didn't shut off no more, so in addition to checking the RAM and the power supply try to blow it out, you can get a can of condensed air at Wal-mart for about 5 or 6 bucks. |
