AntiVir wont update?

I'm running free anti-vir on my portable which I don't use
every day. So, every time I turn the portable on, I update
AntiVir.

Tonight it wont update - it hangs. In fact, after quite
some time it pops up a notice saying it hasn't been updated
in 7 days, click here to update. But when I do, it starts,
the bar goes for about 10 seconds, and then it just hangs.

Nothing on my machine has changed.

Any ideas?

maybe this :

Avira's update today is another rather large one today and you may
experience non responses or long waits ( I did). Servers are
overloaded. I did a manual download, and with my dialup connection, it
took the better part of two plus hours. Size is approx 27.5 MB. When
this happens I always turn to Softpedia, they have several download
links.

When this happens to me I usually try to do a manual update.

Thanks for the above link. I didn't realize that you shouldn't unzip the
zip file.
I unzipped it first and it wouldn't install. Then I read the directions (go
figure) and just pointed the manual install to the location of the .zip file
and it worked great.

PS: I couldn't even get the Avira page to open since they must be
overwhelmed, but using your link worked great.

Works here okay. Try cleaning your browser cache, that worked for me
when I experienced a similar problem.

Didn't work for me, read a couple more posts and tried again and it
worked. Try a couple of times.
