Why is this?

When I have used it in the past, on a different machine, you click on file >
Send E-mail > Send as HTML.

However this option is not there, and the only option is to add as attachment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

many thanks

Could be that you are trying to use an older version of Outlook than
Publisher's version.

Thanks. It's true that I'm using Outlook 2003 with Publisher 2007.

In the online help it says that this shouldn't be a problem, but maybe it is.

Thanks,

Robin

No version lets you send as an HTML any longer. You will have to convert the
publication to a .mht or .html and send the email from your mail program.

Publisher 2007 will allow you to send as a PDF, XPS and as an attachment. There
is the option to send as a message, Publisher will gather up all the elements
and make a try at composing a coherent message, it is not good.

Mary,

Would you please explain to me what you mean by no version lets you send as
an HTML any longer? I sure don't seem to have any problems sending html
formatted messages with 2003 or 2007 through OE 6. I don't use Outlook.

There is some contradictory information about this subject, and it has been
discussed here before with links to MS articles suggesting that you have to
use Outlook 2007 with Pub 2007, and articles that say that you can use
Outlook 2003 (or OE v5.0 or later).

From: Create and send e-mail publications by using Publisher (2007):
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA102200511033.aspx

Here is one quote:

" To use the Send E-mail command in Office Publisher 2007, you must have one
of the following programs installed on your computer:
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
Outlook Express (version 5.0 or later)
Windows Mail "

However there are other references that suggest that you have to use either
Outlook 2007 or OE. I do not use Outlook, so can't speak from personal
experience. I have been successful using OE6 to send html formatted messages
from both 2003 and 2007. I have also read where Outlook 2007 has been
changed substantially in how it handles html formatted messages, and
certainly Pub 2007 functionality has been changed in how it can be used with
html formatted messages as compared to Pub 2003.

Using html formatted email vs. plain text is a hotly debated issue in
itself. Many people in this group are adamantly opposed to sending html
formatted email in general. Many are opposed to sending html fomatted
messages from Publisher. I personally think that if you want the viewer to
see exactly what you produced in Publisher, that the only sure fire way is
to send the message as a PDF attachment. If you want to use html messages,
then you need to keep things relatively simple, should probably start with
one of the email formatted templates and will have to forgo some/many print
formatting options that do not translate well to html (Note the section on
"Formatting in email messages" in the following reference).

As per your issue of not having the option to send as html, perhaps this
reference which is for Pub 2003 would also apply to Pub 2007:

Tips and troubleshooting for sending a publication page as an e-mail
message:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HP010390591033.aspx?pid=CH062524821033

"If Outlook 2003 is set as your default e-mail client, and the Send This
Page as Message command still does not appear, you may need to automatically
repair your Microsoft Office programs. For more information about repairing
Office programs, click Automatically repair Office programs in the See Also
section, which is visible when you are connected to the Internet."

Okay you can send as HTML if you select "send as a message." You are asked about
your mail client in 2007. I don't have any option but as an attachment in 2003.

Publisher 2002 has a check off to send in the body of the email, but if you
don't have Outlook 2002 or Outlook Express installed you get an error.

I have sent myself HTML emails and have enabled receiving HTML messages, more
times than not the messages look terrible. Publisher 2007 wants to include
superfluous stuff. I am sure if I use a template it all would look better. I
have a friend that insists on sending HTML emails, she uses fonts that are
obscure, some she has made herself. I cannot convince her to send a PDF. I have
sent her a SnagIt of her email the way I receive it, she thinks I need to repair
my computer. She probably sends out fifty emails a week.

I forgot to add one other possible solution for your issue. Sometimes if you
change your publication from a print document to a web document, the send as
a message option becomes available. File > Convert to a Web Publication.
Many times this will change your layout substantially and can require that
you redesign your publication. Be sure to save a copy of the original
publication before converting or when you get that option during the
conversion in case you want to go back.

You can for prepare HTML newsletters.
http://www.microsoftfrontpage.com/usingfp/newsletters/
That link discusses the use of MS FrontPage, but you can just as easily
substitute the free open source Nvu, which is available at

I don't. I have no problems sending publisher created webpage html emails
with Pub 2003 and Outlook 2003...and they look fine.

I didn't install Pub 2007 yet so can't test that yet. Anyone have a web page
file created by Pub 2007 they can send me so I can test something? - Just
the html (if you can call it that).

This is exactly what I wanted to know too.

I am using Dreamweaver 8 and designing a newsletter with links and making a
..html file of it.

Then I am going into Outlook 2007 and trying to send it. I can only get it
to send as a link and I don’t want that. I want it to be embedded in the body
of the e-mail.

Did you get an answer on this?
